I'm sure everyone else knows the answer to this except me, but can you please tell me what 'this disc is dirty' means when a DVD won't play? And what is the solution, please? Many thanks.

It means the disc is dirty!!!

Try cleaning it with a damp cloth and let it dry...is the disc damaged, i.e scratched?

If that doesn't work then get a DVD cleaning kit, your laser might be a bit dusty!

Hope that helps!

Thanks, Computerbud. We've tried a damp cloth, no go, disc looks completely fine. I just wondered if 'dirty' meant it was somehow corrupt, but will now go and get a cleaning kit.

I posted exctly the same question obout Disc is Dirty error message.

Unfortunantly my solution was a warranty repair replacing the DVD unit. Thankfully been fine since.

I did have a couple of probs.after the repair. The unit shutting down but formatting the HDD seemed to have scared the gremlin away.
