Hi there,

sorry to bother you again, but Im having problems with my nearly new dishwasher.

It is only about 4-5 , months old. Is an AEG and has electronic indicators to tell me when to put more salt in, rinseaid in etc and things like that.

Well, recently (for two days now) the dishes have been covered in a horrible whiteness when the cycle's finished and are all squeaky to touch and feel horrible. I have tried increasing the amount of rinseaid. I've tried decreasing it, but it just own't go away.

What is causing this? Does anyone know. Oh, and I only use Finish products in it, i.e, salt, rinseaid and detergent.

Any help really appreciated as I've had the same load in there now for a day and half!!!!

love

I do realise one should not answer a question with questions, but ....... have you washed quite fatty cooking trays in this machine recently? are the white marks streaky? or a thin film coating all of the items?
I'm not an expert, but have had various solvable problems with my dishwasher. It sounds as though they arn't rinsing properly, have you checked both the spray arms, cos if they get blocked with bits of pasta or something, either not enough water gets through, or it's cloudier. Also I once had the upper basket too low so that the spray arm underneath this was hitting against a wooden spoon in the cutlery basket below, and thereby not distributing enough clean water for rinsing. Hope this helps

ummmm, thanks for your replies, I shall look into both of them as possible sources of problem.

cheers, m'dears
White coating and squeaky to touch on mine means not enough salt

If this was my machine I would turn of the 'leccy at wall, stick my fingers in the salt container and swirl what is in there round. I would unscrew the rotating arms and check for a block by running it under the tap. Set the rinse aid back to normal. We use Finish too, but in addition to that once a month I run it on empty except for milton sterilising fluid at the hottest temperature cycle . This was a tip given to me years ago by a service agent! I had a problem after having cooked some meat and putting the dishes in too, I was running it on a mid range temp. cycle ,VEGETARIANS STOP HERE, we had had some kind of fatty meat for roast dinner, and the cylcle was not hot enough to break up the fat residue in the gravy and it left an opaque film over all the dishes. I Doubled up on the detergent (one in the door bit, one directly in the machine) and ran it at the hottest temp. Problem solved.

ummm, I have cleaned the filter. Interestingly, I took some of the white squeaky things out and put some different things in and ran it again. When it had finished, the squeaky things were still squeaky and the new things were fine? How weird is that?

I shall empty it tonight (if I have enough space, dirty dishes are piling up on the work surfaces) do your trick of running it on empty etc and see if that clears it.

It is very weird. The squeakiness is so bad it sets my teeth on edge to touch the glassware especially, and it leaves a white powder behind on my hands.

I don't know? Is technology really worth it sometimes?????
thanks for all your top answers, i really appreciate it.
If I was having all this trouble with a dishwasher only 4 - 5 months old I would be straight on the phone or writing a letter to the place where I got it, because it must be faulty .. I have had dishwashers all my life and never really had any problems .... I don't think this is acceptable and for an expensive purchase like that I would say it is faulty.

well, lady_P, you are right of course. It is not the first time this has happened. I'm worried that some of my glass ware is ruined. I wonder if there is something wrong with the rinseaid dispenser, or salt dispenser of something.

I'm going to try this and if it still doesn't work, I'll beon the dog and bone inthe morning.

thanks for your imput. I do appreciate it.

after posting last night, I walked into the kitchen and the darn thing had flooded the kitchen floor. If I had been strong enough and if it hadn't have been plugged into both the cold tap, the drain and the electricity, and if it had been big enough, I would have picked it up and thrown it out the window.

However, i cleaned it all out by hand and now it has magically fixed itself.

Anyway, as Lady _P says, if it happens again even just a little bit, I'm getting on the dog and bone to the supplier and complaining like billy-O. I don't expect to have to faff about with a 4 month old AEG. It should not be termeramental!!!!!

thanks for all your help though, much appreciated.
Is the dishwasher behaving or have you called in "DE MANAGEMENT" to sort it out? Just wondering?
