Which Way To Face Elephants

Hope this is the right section. I have lots of small model elephants, Teak ones brought back from India by my Dad, Onyx ones, glass ones Wooden ones from Sri Lanka,Africa etc.
I have always had them facing the outside (as per my Dad) on windowsills
or shelves,however my neighbour saw them and stated she knew elephants always faced inwards.
I know my Dad always had tall tales to tell about his war
time in India and Burma. but that I believed. So who is right and why.??

My mother always positioned elephant ornaments facing the door: if they charged, they could get out easily, causing the least damage to the room ...

We have lots of elephants, I think they look nicer facing into the room, you don't want to sit looking at their *** end do you?

As for superstitious nonsense. just a tad irritating!

O.K. so the consensus of opinion seems to be that they face into the room preferably facing the door.
I shall apologise to my neighbour and next time I dust I'll turn them around, buy a lottery ticket and see if my luck changes.
