Is anyone else experiencing an inordinate number of flies about the house for the time of year? We must get rid of about 30 a day at the moment and they are biggish bluebottle ones, not little midge like things.

Thank heavens for that. Thought it was only me, and I was just about to investigate to make sure there weren't any dead things lying around for them to breed on. Ours aren't bluebottles, they're biggish black houseflies though. We've only just got rid of the plague of fruit flies escaping from the compost bin.
I am swamped with fruit flies......if you leave a cup in the sink for mre than 10 minutes you come back to a Hitchcockesque scene...again glad it's not just me.
I think they obviously have hatched out from eggs layed inside the house earlier in the year I've seen them in a house and they seem to have hatched in the roof space as they were all upstairs and they don't want to go outside as it's too cold.I have'nt seen many wasps though and there were loads of wasps' nests where I work earlier in the year .
