Morning all.

I am with T-Mobile but want to change to Asda Mobile. T-Mobile want to charge me fifteen quid for the network code, so ,,,, being a canny Yorkshire lass .... I had a look on t'internet to see if I could get it another way.

Well, I found a site that would give me it (allegedly) for £3.50. Only thing is, they have sent me an email this morning, saying they can't generate a code, and asked me to check the IMEI that I gave them. I did this, and I definitely gave them the correct one.

Do you think I have lost my £3.50, and should I cough up the fifteen quid to T-Mobile?

Thanks chums.x

message received a-ok mrs c .. reply winging its way back ;o)
You unlock the mobile rather than the network. It comes locked because the service provider you signed up with subsidised the handset and wants their investment back, plus some profit. That is why they charge, say £15, to do it for you.

There are stalls in the market, and shops on the high street that will unlock your mobile. It's perfectly legal, even if a little questionable morally given the subsidy. But I'd not worry. Suspect there is as many folk going to a service provider as moving the other way. Swings & roundabouts.

As for your £3:50, ask them to give it back if they can't provide the service. Best of luck getting it.
Hope that's not your usual e-mail address. Spammers will get it now it's on public display here.

£10 for a mobile handset ?!? Wow, didn't even realise they still made 'lucky bag' ones :-)
thanks old geezer, but no its not my proper email address, i made it up the other day.
if i get loads of rubbish through on it, i will just delete it asap.
Hi Mrs. C, I bet you've learnt a lot about unlocking mobiles in the last few hours??
Here's another site which you may find of interest and which contains a few more links for you to follow

I hope you soon get it sorted.
I have an Asda sim card and it's much cheaper than the ordinary land line, what with 10p connection charge and VAT.!!
All calls under 30 minutes are cheaper on an Asda mobile.
Incidentally, born in Withernsea, lived in Hull until moved to Lancashire in 1960 but still Yorkshire at heart.
Just for the record (not a pun) mrs. chappie, yummy yummie yummie was recorded by Ohio Express, 1910 fruitgum Co. did Simon Say's.

Afternoon all! Thanks for your posts. [:o)

Well, bad news and good news. The bad news is the online company can’t find a code for my handset. Good news is they say they’ll refund my cash (all £3.50 of it, lol).

Wak, in what area of Hull did you live? I lived in Cottingham for several years, and now live in Willerby.

Secsee, thanks very much for that info re Ohio Express! 1910 FG Co had summat to do with the record but I can’t remember exactly what. I’ve just been listened to the recording by 1910 on Youtube and it’s nowhere near as good as the original.
Hi Mrs. C. On Beverley Rd. between Grafton St and Alexandra Rd.
I have a brother living on Bilton Grange and had a Brother-in-law who lived in Anlaby Common so I came through Willerby and Cottingham quite often for visits.
Nice area. I always liked the winding back road from Welton Bottom to Cott. Very nice!!!
Glad you're getting a refund.
Take care,
Wak.

Hiya Wak. I know the Beverley Road area well. Used to work at the tannery down Bankside/Sculcoates Lane. Do you know it?

PS: I was surprised to get the refund pretty much instantly. Thanks for the good wishes. x
Yes, from my old home, cross Bev Rd, past the Mayfair, under the bridge and about third on the left down Scully Lane.
I used to work at the GEC on Bev Rd not far from Blundell's corner.
Where you living now if not in Hull?

Hi all. Phone now transferred to Asda Mobile and up and running! Thanks for help.

Wak, I now live just a stone's throw away from Hull (well, not literally!) in Willerby. I lived in Bedale, North Yorkshire for 12 years, up until 3 years ago. Moved back here to be nearer to family, but to be honest, I do miss North Yorkshire a lot. Still, I don't have to travel so far to see the folks, so every cloud has a silver lining. [:o)
Hi, Mrs C, I have lived in the Oldham area in the Pennines for the last 50 years and find that the Hull area is a bit too flat and boring now although the towns and people are still OK. Like you say, "Every cloud. . . . ."
Take care, Mrs C, and good luck,
Wak.

Thanks Sundha, Ohio Express did indeed do the original and it's much better than 1910's cover version.
