I didn't know where to write this, so here is my question, I have found a lovely silver ring among my late mother's possesions, the only thing I can see is, it say's inside, 827 silver and is there any value other than to myself, thanks.

I don`t know what the 827 is - sterling is 925 but there is not a lot of money in silver. The price has dropped quite low.
I an fairly sure it means that it is 82.7 % Sterling Silver.
I am pretty sure it is 82.7 % silver and is therefore not British but is foreign and this is a foreign import mark....

weight and think £10 /0z
Any guesses how much foreign silver would be worth per ounce without any silver mark thats visible please?
Lorz recently changed.

My mothers Indian silver is all 80% and so couldnt not be sold as silver for a long long time
and then ( human Rights Act I am sure) they changed the law.... and you can !

obvious difficulties of is it silver ?
and how pure is it ?
which will depress the market price.... sorry
( obviously NOT planning to sell Mumz silver )
.

The whole idea of hallmarks was to 'kite-mark' it
or guarantee quality in a fourteenth century way....
Thanks Peter x
Yes, the silver im talking about i think came from abroad, possibly India.
