We (at Morrisons - plug) have punnets of red plums, six to a pack, for 99p.

Also have peaches, nectarines, flat peaches and apricots at 99p/punnet
Plums ain't cheap. But get grocery prices for almost anything sold at the major stores here...

In a month the main UK plum harvest will start- may be worth hanging on until then particularly if you have access to a farm shop/grower.
Find somebody in your area with plum or damson trees and do a deal. They give you plums and you make them some jam. There are LOTS of people in my area who have damson trees but don't harvest them, so you might be lucky. Go and have a trawl around your area. Yummy.

Thanks, yes it might be worth waiting a while, they are certainly expensive, just feeling a bit bored at the moment, I will wonder round the village and see what's what with the neighbours fruit trees instead, thanks again.
Correction to my earlier post. This week they are 69p/punnet or 3 for £2.
(freebies from the neighbours does sound better though).
Do you have a local market? Usually a good place for things like this...I've just bought a large scoop of plums for £1....weighed at home (just curious) at just on 3 lb.
