Hi I am really breathless I went to my GP who listened to my heart and lungs and said there was nothing obviously wrong. I am just wondering how he could tell so easily without doing further tests. He thinks this is because Im overweight but I have been for years and never breathless like this. I am tempted to google but I am not

I think so pixie if I just breath normally and let it happen Im ok but if I think I cant breathe I start to be in a place where I cant get a deep breath and it starts the whole cycle agan. Im just wondering if GP would be able to tell everything ok just by listening with stethescope
He seems happy as far as we can tell. He has seen you recently. I had chest pains with panic attacks, i was convinced it was a heart attack, couldn't breathe, pins and needles in hands. I did go to a&e (bit embarrassing now, but i didn't know).
See your doctor at some point, anyway, because at the very least, they can treat your anxiety and one more check-up may reassure you.
Meanwhile, it sounds as though you've successfully treated the panic attack, so keep the bag around in case. I knew i was better when i threw mine away.
I obviously can't reassure you on physical health, only your doctor can do that - but if that has helped at all- it is purely anxiety.
very best wishes xx
Could you perhaps ask your GP for a referral so you could get an ECG done on your heart ? As this may put your mind at rest.
If you're still awake and breathless gordie. Cup both hands over your nose and mouth and breath or get a paper bag use it like an oxygen mask over the nose and mouth and slowly breath into the bag. This lowers the adrenilyn which can cause panic attacks/breathlessness. Good luck!
It lowers the excess oxygen ratio from hyperventilation, which makes you feel panicky.
Gordie, sounds kind of familiar, try and relax and what Pixie says, there sounds an element panic in it. A paper bag can do wonders though if you feel any chest pains get to A&E. It could be a touch of asthma. Can I ask are you or ever have or ever have been a smoker??
check your iron levels as being very low can leave you feeling quite breathless
