Can we have a topic section on Disability & Caring?

My husband is disabled and i am his full time carer and while i know that there are many, many forums out there that relate specifically to that topic, i LIKE The Answer Bank and find the responses are more 'normal' (for the want of a better word).

is there anybody else out there who would like a section related to this as well?

hi traci I think its a really good idea. I know there are other people on here who are full time carers to either their partners or children and posts can easily get lost in parenting and body and soul.
Good idea Traci,I can't personally relate....but...as you say, there's a lot of normality and common sense going on here...and what a valuable store of experience going to waste by not being able to interact on a more specific and personal level.Like Pixi said..B&S can't really cover your concerns. Good luck!

I think you will be surprised at the support you would receive on B & S.

Try it with a wee concern or question and guage the response you get.I think you will be pleasantly surprised.

Hi TraciJ2

Thank you for the suggestion. We are currently discussing ways to develop the site - and making our "top ten" list of most possible additions.

In the meantime, I would tend to agree with Drisgirl on this one - the B&S category would be most relevant for issues you would like to discuss - indeed, you may be surprised how supportive our ABers can be! (just watch your grammar - :)

We are currently compiling a list of web resources -along the lines of what we've done with the youth support sites in the AB Blog to permanently display in the B&S category - if you know of some caring & disability sites that you've found particularly helpful could you post them on this thread or email me? They may prove helpful to others on the AB who are in the same position as you.
