Men's Watches-Automatic

Since the 1960's I have always used a gent's -Seiko wrist watch and always been totally happy with them The 2-3 watch's I've had during that period were known as a Automatic type. Is that now what they call Kinetic type. Thanks for any help. Any other automatic type of a different brand recommended would be welcome.

Interesting subject.

As an (ex) electronics engineer I can confidently state that, in many electronic circuits, a rechargeable battery can be regarded as a capacitor with an exceptionally high value of capacitance.

I have a divers quartz watch that I bought in Lidl for £6.99. It keeps better time than my Rolex Submariner, which is a spring-winding automatic and an 'Officially Certified Superlative Chronometer'.

I love looking in jewellers windows at the 'Atomic Time' watches that rely on a radio signal for their supposed split second accuracy, and noting that there can be up to 40 seconds difference between them in the time they show! Shop assistants are unable to explain the anomaly!

Thank you all for all the responses alas this modern world is so confusing too many choices like best energy product and recently on a visit to my bank all the different accounts. Any how have just come back from Argos with a Pulsar Kinetic (assured it is propelled like my old Seiko automatic by movement) having the day/date reading to help a old man remember
what date/day and time it is but thanks to you all again.

To heathfield: I have many , many watches....quite a few are Radio-controlled ("atomic") and solar-powered. The reason why the watches in the shop window are not telling exactly the same time is simple....they have simply been taken out of the box and put on display. As an owner, you need to "initialise" them...press a button or two to tell them where you are and which radio-transmitter they should "tune" to...then they always tell exactly the precise time.

If you have an automatic watch and chose only to wear it for special occasions then you should also invest in a watch box. This device will turn the watch thus keeping the movement going.

Ah! The reason for the discrepancies between 'atomic' watches is explained. I'll pass that on to jewellers assistants! Thanks both.
