I've just read sandys article again, and I'm having a Grrr moment. http://www.theanswerbank.co.uk/ChatterBank/Question1344996.html#postananswer

Why do people persist in saying "one pence", not "one penny"? It was never like this in my youth, in the Old Money. It all started when "new pence" came in in 1971......

One penny
Two pence

"Oh, by the way, Miss Moneypee", exclaimed James Bond.
Well, the coins are helpfully labelled ....one penny...two pence.
eeeh, If I had one pence for every time someone said pence when they should say penny and vice versa, I 'd have lots of one pences.
Well, if that's the case, gingejbee, there should be no problem. That's my two cents worth...Or is it "two cee worth"?

LOL, I'm glad I'm not alone, and that there are alternatives. Instead of the Grrr moment, I shall just be peed off.....
