Well deserved and I'm glad he knew about it before he passed.
Well deserved.
The fund raising carries on this weekend just up the road from me in Stephens home town.

Very nice touch. He won't be forgotten. Brave man.
Yes, but why no knighthood?
I agree he should have been awarded a knighthood, much more deserved than for example Daniel Day-Lewis, who it was reported is the first person to win three best actor Oscars, and it was rewarded for services to drama.

Services to Drama?????

Isn't that his job of which he gets handsomely paid for?
I think a knighthood dies with the person so maybe that's the reason he wasn't awarded one.
I think the MBE awarded to Stephen is a lovely and fitting gesture.

AOG - There is a history of creating Theatrical Knights.....DDL is just the latest.
Most honours go to people based on what they do. Would be hard to honour a Scientist for services to Entertainment. And most people who pick up their honours for "services to charity" are, well, charity workers...

ANOTHEOLDGIT, are you saying folk should be recognised only for actions with no connexion to their 'day-job'?

I don't really care for, or take much notice of the honours list, but this lad is more deserving than the vast majority.
Can't argue with you there Roy !

It's nice to have a topic that people don't have controversial views on. RIP Stephen Sutton.
