My cat (as one would expect) is very alert to birds ( even chases flies) and yet we have just got a parrott and the our cat and another neigbourhood one are simply curious or confused(when parrott talks) and offer no threat to the Parrott. Is this unusual ?

My dog dislikes anything that isn't human, he detests all other animals but when OH took him for a walk once they came across a chap with a parrot, the dog was mesmerised and just stared at him.
rocky - tell me that the chap wasn't taking his parrot for a walk.
i know someone who takes their parrot for a walk
One of your crazy relatives?
lol, when i know know, i mean i see someone regularly and say hello to....

she takes her parrot out every sunny/dry day and he sits on her shoulder till they get to a particular tree and he flies up and sits in the tree, talking to everyone passes, its bloody weird to walk down a path and hear a tree say hello to you....
Yep, it was on his arm, I've seen it myself in town.
And there aren't all that many parrots hanging around - or should that be flying around?
And you wonder why Scotland is trying to get away from England - you are all crazy.
Cats are usually OK with chickens as well for some reason.
Cats are usually okay with chickens after their first attempt to kill them - the cats find out chickens are fierce.
if a tree talked to me I'd feel more poplar.
there is a lady here that takes her African grey to the shops it sits on her trolly and is very sociable. I often see another man driving round with a parrot in the car. I haven't taken mine outside yet as he seems to be a nervious bird and I don't think I could trust my dog the cat is afraid of him at present but I wouldn't trust them alone together.
I was worried that when I got my chickens they would become cat fodder. That worry lasted about 2 days because the chickens soon laid down a marker as to who was boss. None of the cats will go near them now. Apart from my blind, deaf old boy and that normally results in a standoff.
Nice one svejk, but feel you're out on a limb there!
Or out of his tree.
