...I don't drink tea or coffe , but we had a huge debate about this at work (we were having an extremely quiet day), the correct way is to put the milk in first (this was to stop the delicate china of yesteryear from cracking when the boiling tea was pored in )... now my boss would swear that he could tell the difference, so we tested him throughout the day (and boy could he get through some tea and coffe in one day)...anyway he could tell every single time if the milk had been poured first in or last in...strange or what?....
I prefer to put my milk in last , otherwise it has a baby sick smell about it.
I find putting milk in first for tea (has to be a pot of tea of course) and milk in last for coffee seems to work for most people.

no, i am a milk first person, especialy in coffee, otherwise its to rich!

and ermintrude35, thank you, my wife thought i was lying, i can tell if the milk goes in first or last!!

So can I! I make a good cup of tea, but I'm not so good with coffee, now someone told me to put the milk in first and mix it with the coffee because otherwise the hot water burns the coffee giving it an odd bitter strong flavour, not sure if there's any truth in that.
Don't like coffee, and the housemates take it black. However, milk last in tea, otherwise find it difficult to judge how strong it is.
This really amused me ...years ago I worked on a male long stay ward in an old mental hospital. At teatime one of the patients holding a big aluminium teapot shouted through the kitchen hatch, "Diabetics" to which some men responded, and he poured out a cup of tea (with milk already added in the pot) for them. Then everyone else went up for tea out of his other large pot where there was milk and sugar already added!

tea bag then hot water, leave to brew, then you can add however much milk you want!

loulou........... if you cant make tea i will have to stop following you!!

I haven't noticed a difference in taste, yet, but I do put in milk first, since the cup won't stain as much.

(That's actually why since Victoria's time this is the 'proper' was do drink your tea!)

Good question. I don't drink coffee, however with tea, if I have a cup poured from a teapot, I will put the milk in first. But If I am making just a cup of tea in a mug, I put the milk in after I have taken the teabag out.

Strange, I've never thought about this until you raised the subject!

Don't use teabags.
