We had a lovely day out in Hereford yesterday. Perfect weather....blue skies, with small fluffy little clouds like cotton wool...warm but not too hot.

We parked by the river and had a walk in the water meadows, over the Victoria Bridge, and had a stroll around town and then lunch in the garden of a small bistro called La Madeleine ( I think ! )

Then spent 1.5 hours looking around the Cathedral. What a lovely place, not so big that we felt overwhelmed as we did at York. Beautiful stained glass windows. Almost had the place to ourselves !

Can I recommend Hereford for a wonderful day out, if you live within a couple of hours driving. Can't wait to return !

I was stationed down there in 1972/73 Mikey and we had our passing out service in the cathedral. Had a couple of visits since then and I've always enjoyed it. Yay I live in Herefordshire, and I love it, even if it's a bit on the quiet side sometimes.
Kval - love it there. Driving through Hereford and Worcs and visiting the farm shops and getting 'proper' produce straight off the fields
ovely place. used to go there when I lived near aberg.
sorry lovely.
I was there last weekend visiting my folks. The new development is open now, which was badly needed. Hereford has become a bit dumpified in recent years.
Beautiful! I bought a lovely copy of the Mappa Mundi there and it's now framed and on my study wall.
I live in Hereford, it's nice but so 'slow' after where we used to live. Has taken a lot of time to get used to.

Welsh Yorkie...I can remember hiking up in the hills, about 15 years ago, above your old army base and looking down on it. I seem to recall an old railway tunnel, which we were told in the Pub later that day was used for SAS training. Would have been possible to land a plane at this place ?
sounds like the perfect day mikey. :)

It was indeed anneasquith...only problem was the long way from Swansea !
Mikey, the base at Credenhill would have been able to take a plane landing - the roads at the bottom of the base were very wide. However, I don't think there was any aircraft movement at the base. As an aside, if you google RAF Hereford it comes up with 5 images - the middle one is of our apprentice entry and on close inspection, it would appear that I'm on the 3rd row 3rd from the left!!
