Moral Dilemma - What Would You Do?

Curious to know .............. if you were undercharged significantly (say, by £30) in a posh restaurant for meals and drinks, would you point it out? Or would you pay and leave?

No , they got two free bottles of 'spring' water
I would tell them regardless.
Staying in a hotel we often went to and enjoyed, we had a bottle of champagne (big birthday). When the bill came, no champagne on it. We told them, they checked their computer, 'Not possible'. We argued but in the end left a tip that covered the missing amount + tip
point it out, always.
Be honest & point it out, after all if you were being overcharged you would point that out wouldn't you ?
I don't understand why it's a dilemma. You owe it - pay it.

The dilemma was a) shouldn't they get it right to start with? And b) it was not noticed at the time
That doesn't make sense. If it wasn't noticed at the time, why are you asking if we would point it out or pay and leave? Surely if it hadn't been noticed you'd have already paid and left?
People make mistakes. It doesn't mean something is free.
I thought it was noticed at the time, hence the opportunity to point it out........or have I misunderstood?

It makes perfect sense .... The question was theoretical not necessarily what happened!
Sorry, but it doesn't. Perhaps you'd be kind enough to clarify. Is this theoretical customer still in the restaurant when the mistake is noticed, as the question implies, or not?
When we were young and skint there may have been a temptation to ignore it.
Now we are old and still skint but personal honour is worth more than £30 or whatever.
I was given change for a £20 note when I only gave them £10 when paying a £2 bill at Poundland. I realised when I got outside and went back in, interrupted the queue and tried to give the extra £10 note back to the cashier. "What?" she snapped "O right" and without as much as a thank you she put it back in the till. I was very cross and said "Pardon me for being so honest!" The whole queue tutted at her attitude and a man said to me very loudly "You'll get your reward in Heaven darling, SHE obviously won't!" It was really funny what he said - but I couldn't believe she could be so ignorant when I was only being honest and helping her!

It's about honesty, plain and simple.....what would you do if you were overcharged? Complain........

It happens elsewhere and great shall your reward be. Airlines for example, I once had fabulous service overnight from Nigeria to London in Bus Class....I'll ignore the details but I sent a letter in to them to thank the staff. A few months later, I went Lagos to London to Jeddah in winter with them and it was chaos, I ended up in BXL first and then made it to Gatwick, my luggage in Frankfurt, a flight next day London to Jeddah.

They paid for the hotel and would have settled on quite a wardrobe; I was happy with a 1st class male bag, socks, underpants and shirts to cover the anticipated two extra days that it would take to reunite me with my case in Jeddah.

I checked in and I had been upgraded to 1st for the flight out; I found out that a positive letter offsets 8-10 negatives that they receive and it bumped you up the 'appreciation' list. Bet it hasn't changed that much...

This is the same - you should be honest, your rewards may come later, next time that you check in, a bottle of complimentary bubbles perhaps?
