Not sure if this should be here or body and soul? I work in a hospital and whilst tidying our office I moved the Quran book from on top of a filing cabinet and put it on the window sill next to the bible and a host of other books (basically where we keep the books) shortly after a colleague asked oh whose moved the quran? It has to be higher than the bible. All of us in the office were either RC or Cof E but we moved it back anyway. Our hospital chaplain apparently said it renders the Quran book obsolete if it is stored at the same height or lower than the bible. Can anyone enlighten us?

Thank you everyone, especially Octavius, because basically I knew there was more to it than just being higher, and thought it was doomed anyway, by the way no-one has touched it since it's been on top of the key cupboard (the domestic will probably get told off when the supervisors come with their white gloves on) It is still a topic at work that everyone kind of hasn't got time to theorise, but it must impact on peoples basic principles.

Just one quick comment. Where octavious mentioned that non-muslims are not allowed to touch the quran...that is wrong. I believe there is one criteria only for touching the quran and that is to be clean. I must find the actual source of this fact but for now this is what I know.

In regard to non-muslims not touching the quran, you must understand that the Quran was intended for all of humanity. It does not belong to muslims nor is it forbidden to non-muslims. It is the truth and everyone must have access to it.

Where it mentions that one must be clean before touching the quran can be found in the 56th surah (chapter) of the quran. Other than that, I think what octavious said was fine. I know very little however what I put down must be fact and must have proof to back it up. There is too much propaganda and myths and misunderstandings. Stating what is not the truth will only just aggrevate it. All I ask is that people only mention facts and not what they think might be facts from what they have heard or seen. Sorry octavious dont mean to offend you at all. Its important all truth is put down especially when those of different faiths read these forums. If what is put down is stated as fact but is not actually true, then all that would be happening is that those who dont know and are learning will be misguided.

The Quran itself says that it confirms to Gospel and Torah. Nevertheless, since there are many versions of the Bible, while there is only one Quran; it can be classified higher in terms of its authenticity. Ultimately, both of these books are reported to have been inspired by the same celestial source; and are based on the ancient hermetic traditions.
