jamaica,
anywhere south of the equator, where it's summer. In fact, anywhere further south than the Mediterranean (where sun isn't reliable): southern Morocco or the Canaries, southern Florida and the Caribbean.
As Jno has stated, it's summer in the southern hemisphere in January, so there are loads of possible destinations. The one I'd personally recommend, however, would have to be Perth, Western Australia.

Chris

But bear in mind that summer in the tropics is the wet season so further south is a good idea. Perth, as Chris suggests - or Adelaide/Melbourne/Sydney but not Brisbane.

Thoough having said that, the rain tends to come in short sharp bursts.

How about The Gambia? Its not too long a flight, 6 hrs from memory, and if you go with The Gambia Experience you are effectively putting something back into their community as they donate money for each holidaymaker. We went in January and the weather couldn't be faulted, hardly any mossies around either.
Carribean
I went to las Vegas this january and it was 20C...which was better than -2 when I left.....
Cape town in January was lovely.
Sharm in Egypt, A little windy but guaranteed warm and no rain, and only 5 hours flying time. Western Caribbean is also warm, I was there in January, and Grand Cayman was HOT!
I have to agree Perth Australia 30+c, no rain, virtually guaranteed from Jan to April. Not that touristy too.Best beaches for an oz city.
