Will it be ok to eat an unopened bag of lettuce leaves which is 2 days past its "Use by" date?

It should be ok - if its not wet and smells ok it should be fine.
IMO it isn'r even right to eat them straight off the plant. It's rabbit fodder. But if you like them then surely your taste/smell if your own judge. If it seems ok to you then I'd think it would be ok.
Use your nose. If it smells ok it is ok. Much better judge than a use by date.
If it isnt slimey and still quite crisp and no bad smell. maybe I'd eat it.
But i only buy the whole lettuce.

Well pusskin I am not usually a lettuce lover, but I have discovered a type that I can eat without much distain it's called "lambs lettuce", which unlike that horrible "iceberg", its soft & curly & reminds me of perhaps shamrock !
