A sand blaster will clean it in a few seconds, but I suppose you don't want your pan scratched. Perhaps let it soak in water for a few hours and than elbow grease with an anti-scratch scourer - if there is such a thing.
If the pan is dishwasher proof, stick it in there, that'll do the trick.
I find if I soak it then drain the water off I can pick all the bits out by hand or just use the same plastic spoon I stirred the porridge with.
When I'm making it for one I always use the microwave as no skin forms so the bowl cleans easily.
Yeah soak it. Saves a load of rubbing with a scourer.
soak the pan in hot washing up water for a couple of hours...
Washing powder/liquid.

Friedgreentomato advised it once and it works a treat.
If it's really burnt on it gong to be a hell of a job to remove.
I work as a kitchen porter , washer up, in a commercial kitchen so i get this all the time, the chef always gets the porridge stuck in the pan.
Put some washing powder ( The stuff you use for clothes in the washing machine) and water in the pan and put it on the hob to boil . That is how we clean burnt/ stuck on pans in a big kitchen. After a few mins to an hour boiling with detergent water the burnt on stuff will be loose enough to scrape off and scrub clean. This works for anything even burnt on curry ! Mind you one chef did burn a pan so badly it took me 3 lots of boiling to get it clean.
It sound like burnt food is a speciality in that restaurant, eddie.
I also work in a kitchen. We do our porridge in a double boiler-so the pot is not directly on the heat. But the porridge will still stick...so I will soak for a bit in cold water first, then in hot with washing up liquid. It comes off easily.
El-Burnto (I like crispy bits, mind you...)
eddies way works
Soak the inside of the pan with hot water and biological washing powder. This works far better than washing up liquid
A blow lamp !.
put pop in it, such as lemonade or cola and boil it for 5-10 minutes the burnt or stuck stuff will come off no problem
Going to try Eddies I think
