This week is not going well! My inbox & junk mail is getting random reply messages which have been auto sent. Nothing is showing up in the sent box. They all seem to relate to the same thing a diet pill. Any ideas how to stop this, please?

Hi Kia, I had this with my hotmail account about a year ago. It sent out messages to all my saved contacts without showing anything in the sent box (only when my sister asked me if I knew I had sent her several weird emails did I realise I'd been 'hacked' so to speak).

I wrote down all of my contact addresses then removed my whole contacts list from my hotmail account. Then I changed the password on the account and ran an AVG scan to make sure there were no threats.

This seems to have worked, though I am still flummoxed as to how it happened in the first place.

my email accounts are linked so that they all go into one inbox. Have just signed to the individual account and there's a load of messages been sent at the same time to all my contacts in that email address only. Microsoft has pinged up that someone's got into my account. It must be some type of virus. I shall copy all my contact then just delete the address. I don't know how it's got in the first place. The cursor when I'm on the net, can go from when I type in the search box, straight to the address bar. It's weird!

But when I was trying to type a new password, I checked on one note that they caps lock wasn't on. The entire keyboard was reversed. So when I typed a I got l, s was k etc. Did a repair my computer, and at least that snag has gone. will run a full scan next.
It's not your email that's sending these. A spammer is impersonating you. After a few weeks when he's stopped making money from your friends clicking through on the link in the mail, he'll move on to someone else.

This usually happens when you get one of the "Important news - pass this on to all your contacts" junk mailings. These accumulate huge numbers of email addresses and eventually they find their way back to the spammer who generated them. If you must send on viral messages, delete all the past email links first.
If they are in your inbox then you are receiving not sending out, surely.

Limited as to what you can do re receipt. You can change your e-mail account and let your contacts know. Or you can continually set up your e-mail client to recognise all the address as spam and delete them (or better put them in the spam folder). And you can try letting your e-mail supplier know that their spam filter isn't doing much for you. Perhaps they can filter them out at source. My woman has, I think it is called webwasher, running on her PC which can do a decent filtering job, you gradually train it to recognise stuff you don't want and it makes the job of getting rid of it easier.
Change your password. This often happens with hotmail accounts.
