weatherwise. We've just come back from a walk around the local Country Park. That's blown the cobwebs away. Absolutely beautiful it was, and still is.

Cold and dark here also, Daisy, however up until the sun went down it has been a lovely sunny day here in the West Mids.

I seem to have lost the plot of my own thread. Wassgoinon?
The one I was thinking of tony was at Lofthouse Colliery,Wakefield in March '73 when seven men were lost. The surveyors knew there was an old shaft in the area but sadly the existing 19 Century records indicated that it was much shallower then it actually was.
Dunno, Yilly.
Abject apologies. crawls into corner
Right, I see, paddywak, dodgy 19th century records makes an already dangerous job even more so.
tilly, the best advice I can give is consult the locals, possibly a local historical society,or people all ready living in the area you're looking at.Unfortunately as I said earlier record keeping wasn't the best in those days and often any records there were have been lost.
We decided to get away from it all today and have a day out, we went to Dolgellau, in North Wales, what an amazing place, its like stepping back in time, nestled in amongst the mountains where hardly a building has changed for many many years. We had a lovely meal and met lots of lovely people that couldn't keep away from our hounds. A great time was had :-)
Been to Dolgellau a few times my self, RATTER, it was on route to Tywyn ( dad used to have a caravan there years ago ).
Tony, we popped in there at Xmas late one evening and walked right into the town in the middle of a Xmas fare, naturally we had our hounds with us and we stole the show, we had more people around us and the hounds then any of the attractions lol. We have even been talking of moving there, a very mountainous and rugged area, we loved it.
Yes it's a lovely area, RATTER, it would be nice place to live. Best of luck to you and Carakeel with your search.
I would have loved to have seen that, RATTER, the hounds stealing the limelight.

Thanks Tilly, we are looking hard, we found a nice bungalow but not sure if we can get it yet, we will hopefully know early next week.
