If you sign up to sell stuff on ebay, you only pay ebay for the Entry Fee for the item and whatever the 5.25% of the Final Selling Price is don't you? I just wandered why I had to fill in a Direct Debit, I assume it is for this purpose?

Yes, you pay listing fee, plus a final value fee, though the final value fee % changes with the value of the item. I'd register a paypal account and pay your fees though that, its easier and gives you a bit more control, plus if you offer paypal to your buyers stuff goes easier. Though obviously there are more fees for paypal if your a business seller.

Thanks bluejonjo, in the confirmation email they sent me they waffled on about monthly invoice bills and I suddenly thought I was paying some monthly fee, but if they only take what you sell then thats ok, I don't mind waiting and the DD is set up now and don't fancy messing around trying to cancel it and set it up through paypal.

Thanks
EJ

Emma, they also might charge you a little depending on the type of advertisement that you make. I am not familiar with that (sorry) but I have heard there could be small fees, for example, if you should post photographs or have a fancy background.

any charges incurred are shown in the listing before you submit a item for sale,ie any extra fees.so you can change them to suit your budget
