I have slightly chipped front upper teeth which I hav had since I was 10 (Im 26!) Dont know why but it seems to be bothering me now. One is slightly shorter than the other. What sort of dental treatment can be done to get them to the correct length and is it costly?

Im going back to uni in September so want to try and get it done before then.

If it is only a minor difference in length, you could possibly have the longer one filed down to the same length. I've had this done and my dentist did it within the cost of my check-up appointment.

If there is quite a difference then you could consider veneers which are placed over the tooth (almost like false nails). These can be costly though and not NHS.

My dentist did a wonderful job on my short front tooth by building it up. It looks totally natural. It cost me 60.00 privately and he would have done it for 30.00 on the NHS but will a less substantial and lifelike material. I wish I had asked years ago. Unfortunately, NHS charges are due to change on 1st April.

Do get in touch with your dentist. It was a very simple procedure.

Unless it is causing you physical problems, leave well alone.

Quirky characteristics can be attractive and part of your personality.

I can see what you are saying Ethel. However, my very short tooth made me extremely self conscious and it was slightly discoloured too. It was well worth 30.00 to make myself feel better. I was 58 when I had it done and so wish now that I had investigated the possibility years ago.
