Last time I watched Tranmere we beat them in a League cup semi final a few years ago. They wasn't a bad side.

Yes they did, Steve.
If you lift the kids over the turnstyle, make sure they don't drop your flares as you do it.
I remember being lifted over the turnstiles at Vale Park. My Grandad would go through first and my Dad would lift me up and pass me to my Grandad. I also remember having a cup of Bovril and a bit of meat and potato pie at half time.

Last time I went to Vale park, they beat Spurs in some sort of cup match. Mr Tilly blamed the result on the bog they had to play on. Sore loser!

I have no clue about this football stuff, but I loved the phrase "lift their lad over the turnstyle".

Am I the only one that thought of something other than children?

Not those sort of flares, Steve

Sandy, most grounds don't have turnstiles anymore, not in the top two divisions anyway. They are electronic gates, which only allow one ticket holder through at a time. The days of bunging the man on the turnstile a couple of quid and getting in are over I'm afraid.

2SP_ as soon as I posted the original question I saw that it could be open to misinterpretation. That's why I posted the first answer. :-)
I'm glad it wasn't just me, sandy.

Did make me giggle!
Memories of Burnden Park, a short plank of wood with a piece of rope threaded through, slung over the fence to provide a seat. Can you still get in free after 4 15?
