I read today that, owing to the latest technology there are 136 boy babies born to every 100 girls in China and other countries are almost as bad. My question is-will this give women in the future more power or less?

not sure really but if it keeps going at that rate they will end up with a shortage of women, so if they are in demand they may end up with more power
I suspect 'latest technology' means finding female babies and aborting them. Not terribly empowering.
I can't see how it would affect the power of women one way or the other. Unless you mean the power to get laid?
I think blink babe is correct.....women are likely to become more powerful because they will be very much in the minority if this continues. These countries will also have problems with jobs that are currently performed mostly by females eg nursing, cleaning. And it's not just in China....many eastern countries show similar trends. Some Health Authorities in this country have made it policy not to tell parents the sex of their unborn child as there was a horrible trend for female babies to be aborted by parents from the Far East and other parts of Asia and Africa.
