Please can anyone tell me if there is an advantageous way to transfer UK pounds Sterling to Euros? I want to transfer a fairly large sum to France but my bank has a miserable exchange rate and I get ripped off every time. Any ideas?
Many thanks, Bramleyboy.

I use HiFX who are very efficient.
Any of the major currency brokers will give you a better rate than a bank and some just charge a flat fee of about £20 and some, if the amount is large enough, don't charge at all.
I don't think the post office charge an exchange rate, that can be disputed but as far as i know you can get your €'s at no charge from post office

That I'm afraid is total rubbish - the Post Office load the exchange rate fairly heavily

Just shows how their NO COMMISSION ads are effective.
Depends how much money you want to change but I always found either taking cash and exchanging it in Spain or going to an ATM in Spain was better than buying Euros here.
