But who would do lamp repairs? I've a floor lamp that needs rewiring...and can find nothing either online or in the yellow pages under lamps, lighting or repairs. Am I looking in the wrong place?

Electrician?
Yep, electrician

I did think of that...but fear they may charge the earth for something a handy husband would do...( one of which I haven't got )
Can you borrow one of someone else (although strictly speaking you're not supposed to do electrical stuff if you are not qualified). If it was me, I would do it myself.
I suppose it depends upon how much you value the lamp then??
Do you have an old fashioned lighting shop in your area? We have a guy in the local lighting shop who is brilliant. I was in there one time when an American lady brought a standard lamp in and he was going to change it to UK voltage. He could do anything. Unfortunately, he is retiring and those old skills die out when that happens. You might get some luck in an antique shop - or at least they might "know someone"
Take it to a car boot sale not to sell but from my experience the sellers there know every thing about every thing .

@237SJ...we used to have a guy in the area who had a tiny little fix all electrics shop. Sadly-he closed a few years ago...he's what I need now. I'll ask around at some of the electric shops in town.
