Sky Sports have agreed a deal to show games throughout the season, up to and including all the games of the finals. The first game shown will be the season opener at the O2 arena, on the 17th January, between the New York Knicks and the Detroit Pistons.

I'm delighted at the news, because I don't mind a bit of NBA action, but I don't have ESPN (I suppose I could put my hand in my pocket, of course).

I am an NBA fan, but I'm in the US where the little-known 28th Amendment requires all citizens to like basketball. (The US citizenship test requires one to recite the pledge of allegiance and to be able to diagram a box-and-one zone defense.)

My understanding from watching the Olympics is that hoops is not quite as big in the UK. Still, playing a few games over there is a start. I suspect the Knicks will be heavily favored as they are having a very good year while the Pistons are not.
