Was it '4711' - dredged from the back of the memory there!

I don't think it was 4711, but could it have been this?

andy is the nearest. At least 4711 was in a green bottle, although it wasn't an Avon fragrance. The only ones I can remember are Occur!, Rapture, Honeysuckle and Bird of Paradise, but not the colour of the packaging.
Ma Griffe by Carven (you can still get it) had green and black stripes.

yep reddoggy, that's what my link was to, but the link doesn't seem to work!! I thought it was Ma Griffe too!

I don't think you are correct here Cetti, as 4711 was, and still is, in a clear bottle, but with a green label.

The point I was trying to make blobby is that none of the perfumes mentioned (4711, Ma Griffe.etc) are by Avon - and that is the heading of the post.....Avon Perfume.
Avon Elegance was in green if I remember correctly and was very floral.
My Mum used to use Avon Elegance - and if I remember correctly it was a green bottle.
