Batch File Renaming

How can a rename a series of 30 photographs in a folder on my desktop that presently have names such as "SAM_00001" and so on. I'd like to rename them consecutively as a batch in one go.

Left-click on the 1st file.

Ctrl+a to highlight all files.

Right-click on first file.

Left-click on "rename".

Newname (1)


will rename the first file to be Newname (1), the second to be Newname (2) etc.

Faststone is a free viewing program that allows you to rename and resize, plus it has lots of other simple picture fix functions.
I am a pro and would not be without it!
