I am struggling to see the use of a curved phone, apart from the fact this is based on a note which is pretty big.

I realize most of the right-on brigade would not buy it because it is not an apple, but same question applies if Apple do one.

If that's true then I would have on contract if it suited my needs at the time.
Have never bought a 'phone, see no reason to start!

Have ONE ^^^^^^
Pure gimmick just because 'they can'.

Long-term the technology will be used properly but not yet with a rushed released piece of tech.

It looks like a heavy, over heated person has had it in their back pocket

Phone key motivators; Functionality; brand name; affordability; durability

modifications to shape or colour are relatively unimportant
It looks about as useful as a catflap on a submarine.
If you wear it without a case when not in use, the human body tends to be curved, so I guess that is the reason for a curved device.

Using it it as a phone I do not think it would be very ergonomically pleasing.
Has already said it fits with the contours of the body, and seeing most walk around with them clamped between their face and shoulder, I makes sense.

Also the fact that a curved surface has more surface strength than a flat one, could also be a reason.

But why worry they are only going to be available in South Korea.

This is due to an EU Directive forbidding this phone because it is too bendy.

Commission Regulation (EC) No 2257/94
If I wanted one could I complain to the ECHR?
Not on your life! Here in the U.S. they'll be near $1,000...

Ah yes that wonderful EU.
I'm very happy with the flat samsung I've got, thank you. Don't care whether it's an Apple or not.

Surely a curved screen will distort whatever your looking at?
It's all very Jurassic Park "Just because we can, doesn't mean we should.

It will need a case - how will that work?

It will always have to be pocketed the same way (curving into the body). If pocketed the other way, it will create an unsightly bulge.

Reading webpages in landscape mode will be an odd experience, as too would be viewing photos...how many times have you said, "These shots are great...but oh how I wish they were curved..."

Samsung beat Apple on price, but sometimes they rush products to market before the idea is fully formed (Galaxy Gear for instance).

This curved screen phone seems like another one of these products.

Would I buy one?

No.

And being 'right on' to buy Apple products???

Eh?

Does that mean social conservatives and bigots buy Samsung products?

When Samesung do not have an Apple pruduct to copy they produce junk.
