Can I Park On Pavement In City Centre ?

im in an apt block in city centre, lots of people are parked on the pavement beside me, i have parked my car there last night, i dont know if i will get a ticket or not but what are the laws about this, obviously dont want a ticket.

Ouch Peter, that's harsh! I was going to say in Manchester, if there is something they can ticket you for, they will!

They seem to know all the tricks of where people think they can park and get away with it too - I remember living in the city centre with a side street behind and they were down there all the time ticketing people - given the view we had of some of the "valet" parking for a restaurant, I'm surprised they wanted to park down there either!

I've known quite a few people get tickets.

This is my pet hate.
There is a school on the road where I live and parents park part on the pavement even though there is ample room for three cars to drive. Consequently all the pavement is broken.
The council replaced them once but now are having to tarmac it,which looks a mess.
The cost of this to he council (you and me ) must be shocking.
Pavements are not built to to take the weight of cars. Grumble finished.

If causing an obstruction, they are not immune to moving your car too! Sometimes off to the pound where it costs a fair bit to get it back from though I have seen them bring the lorry down, pick up an offending car, drive a few meters up the road and put it in a parking space where it wasn't in the way (along with a ticket I'm sure!). Bet the owner had a bit of a shock when they reappeared!
