My best friend and I want to move to Europe from Michigan (USA), but we don't really how to get the ball rolling. What are some important things to know about moving over there? And we have also heard that not everyone is partial to Americans. Are there friendlier places we should consider moving to?

To refer to Europe as one place is, so far, your biggest problem. Its like saying I want to move to the US and imagining that Anchorage, Grand Rapids and Orlando are going to be similar. We hate the French, they hate us, the Dutch and the Belgians like Brits but hate the Germans, etc. Suggest that you take a few weeks and travel around a bit and see for yourself.

With a varing difference in cultures, attitudes, language, fashion, etc right across the continent, it might be better to narrow it down to somewhere that you are considering then it'll be easier for people here to help you.

Some important things to know in Italy maybe useless information in Sweden.

i suggest Liverpool... there is no were better in Europe. But if its a holiday you want go to AMSTERDAM!
Well if your grasp of moving from one continent to another is on a par with your geographical expertise stay there as you will not be APPRECIATED here in Europe

Well I would not recommend moving to the U.K. unless you want to just stick to the Tourist Routes and attractions. We seem to be develloping into a crime ridden country and certainly as far as Greater London is concerned it has more then its fair share of grime, graffiti mugging and vandalism.

I think I have read somewhere recently that New York is a safer place to visit then London after dark.
