their feet, that can shed light before i see the podiatrist.
for what seems like an eternity, near a year i have had the following, pain on the top of the foot, and electric shock type pain underneath, a verucca on one foot which does not seem to have cleared up, they are causing agony from the instep to the ankle, right into the lower legs, there seems no give in the back of the heel and the tendons are tight as drums, so walking has become the proverbial nightmare. I had initially thought some problem with changing shoes, boots, to summer shoes, that sort of thing, but this does not seem to be the case...

any info would be useful, am seeing someone soon, but thought to get others perspective...
Emmie...I have similar pains which I blamed on a fall in March and figured would go eventually. I was seeing a consultant about something else yesterday when he noticed an oddness with my left foot that he wanted to investigate.
He did some simple tests and has referred me to a neurosurgeon.
Mine is much worse when I go from a resting position...to the point where I have to hop on my right foot for some time first thing in the morning.
Anything like yours?

sounds like it, i confess this has been one of the worse times of my life,
had foot problems before, and was given some exercises to do, this is altogether a different kettle of fish, there is no rest with it, and any one time electric type jolt will come into big toe or moving feet slightly, how can you not, tried doing some simple exercises but they just hurt. Underside of the feet like an electrical charge, now one big toe nail has got what looks like a large bruise on it. The ankles are so stiff and feel wrong somehow, yuck
Peripheral Neuropathy? Does your foot also feel as though you're walking 'flat-footed'?
Emme, I wish you well and hope your pains go away real soon, and it's nothing seriously wrong with your foot.
Emmie...are you going to see someone about it? I thought it was something time would sort til yesterday....though I don't quite know what is being looked for...

beegee, yes both feet, it's horrible, i have the start of bunions, oh dear which means that none of the shoes i possess are remotely comfortable, perhaps none would be at this stage.

gness seeing podiatrist tomorrow, but this has been a long time to wait,
The pain underneath the foot could be caused by plantar faciitis - the podiatrist might be able to shed some light on that possibility. I had pains on the top of my feet for about two years and had ultrasound therapy. I`m not sure it worked - I think it just cleared up on it`s own but the podiatrist did say that the worst thing that you can do is wear shoes whereby your toes need to grip to keep them on (flip flops and toe post shoes). He suggested I wore lace-ups to work but I didn`t (lace ups with a glam uniform? - not a good look)

i am sure that is some of the problem, sandals that slip a bit, but i can't even wear my trainers comfortably. I am also waiting to see the neuro team for the back problem that dogged me this time since early may. that won't be for another 5 weeks
Sounds like you need insteps from podiatrist to correct walking, but also think about getting some proper physio- private is best if you can, and get your feet properly massaged to stretch the tendons etc. Could be caused by knee or hip problems too.
