Met an old neighbour "a granny" - aged 46 - daughter aged 25 has had beautiful baby boy in June (born dead and they resuscitated him and baby was in intensive care for 7 weeks. - she had him ie (granny) (in the pram) with him and I know all babies are beautiful but he is truly beautiful - altho he cried cried and granny was sticking honey on his dummy.

Daughter doesn't want to know - "what about my social life" "what about my sleep" blah blah.

Next door neighbours paid £20,000 for IVF and got a beautiful baby boy.

Doesn't seem right, does it, conne? At least the IVF worked, what a blessing for them.
''what has gone wrong'' id say the reality and reponsobilities of looking after a baby has hit home connemmara...and the mother doesnt like it..sees like they have wasted 20 grand if they havent thought about parenthood and all its pitfalls...
Mrs M - I think conne is talking about two different babies (that's how I interpreted it).
She might have post natal depression.
I think its the old (previous) neighbour who has the grandchild and the current neighbour who is having ivf.

Reality has set in, but thankfully grandma is on hand and young enough to manage.
Very hard to judge the situation without knowing everything. She may well be depressed or just finding it difficult.

I would advise Granny to go easy on the honey on dummy routine though.
i think you are right boxtops..i think i may have mis-read it...lol...
re the baby who was resuscitated, he may have some health problems, which could explain the constant crying, and mum is finding it difficult to cope.
He'll be screaming much more if she keeps putting honey on his dummy.

sorry mrs m - two different babies indeed. I don't know this daughter but have heard she is "supposed to be mad" - was before the baby and granny and great granny whom I know very well kept talking to me as if I knew the daughter.

saying "won't she calm down now" - "won't she take on responsibilities" - won't she this and that. I am feeling this daughter has been into a lot of naughty things. But I am no judge.

Ummmm - thought the same thing re the honey - cos he will scream for more and it isn't good for him. All the same I could have run away with him - oh wait - with the crying - no I'll not bother LOL
honey is very dangerous. x
i think "very dangerous" it stretching it. the recommendation is not to give babies under 1 honey as there is a tiny chance of botulism
