At the excited moment in the show when they shouted '40% of people opening packaging injure themselves' I laughed and in a Benny Hill kind of way said to myself, or possibly out loud 'stupid iriots !' at the precise moment that I wrestled the ring-pull from a can of Heinz Beanz causing a mild laceration and drawing blood from my middle finger. I feckin' hate that Ann Robinson !
I understand they mentioned scissors from whsmiths, how do they think stock like that ends up in the shop? it will be handled by several people before a customer takes it to the till, how many staff would they prefer to put at risk just so they can open it easily?
as long as the staff aren't put at risk or the product isn't used to threaten staff then it's up to the customer to work out how to open the pack. when scissors go through the till an alert box pops up asking if the person is over 18! assuming they are, it suggests they have the capacity to open the pack themselves without too much drama.
