Last week I went to visit one of my oldest friends (male) who was unwell. When I visit people I don't like to go empty handed - it is the way I was brought up. I took with me six iced buns I had made and handed them to his wife. The conversation went like this:
Wife - "why have you brought these?"
Me - "they are a present"
Wife - "but I don't like icing"
Me - "sorry, I didn't know that"
Wife - "you can get them out of my house now"

Like an idiot, I then meekly took them back to the car. I am still seething at her rudeness.

is she just misunderstood? ... "you can get them out of my house now"
sounds clear to me
How exceedingly rude she is - I'm sorry for your friend, being tied up with such a cow.
It's obvious she thinks you are having an affair with her husband, maybe you are mrs O ? :-)
Mrs O - she's not from 'arrogate is she? Stuck up there, tha knows
Good job you're so nice mrs_o................if it had been me she'd have been wearing the sodding buns.
Mrs. O., has the thought ever crossed your mind that she might be jealous of your friendship with her husband? Clearly she sounds ignorant and intimidated to me.
You must be very patient Mrs. Overall if she had said that to me she would have been wearing them as ear muffs.
I was going to say what society at 12:43 already has.
