Abandoned Baby Pigeon...

We've had a baby pigeon sitting in one spot in the garden all day. Our trusty neighbour (who keeps pigeons) said just to leave it even though it can't fly. I feel bad and think we should phone someone.... Any advice? :-) xx

Poor thing. Sounds to me like it needs someone to rescue it before a cat finds it.
It will need feeding too.

I don't understand why the neighbour, who keeps pigeons, will not assist you, and of course the pigeon.

Perhaps because it is a wild pigeon the breeder feels that it would be better to let nature take its course.

Fife... It's a bit late now but it's still wandering about in the garden.

I'd put it in a cage and take it to a vet in the morning. Something will eat it if you leave it out there overnight.

Ph poor thing. If it doesnt get eaten by another animal it will die of starvation and dehydration.Surely somebody must be able to help it.? It needs food and water, and fast!

Well the garden is quite enclosed, we've put food and water out for it and will phone in the morning. We would try and capture it but we have nowhere to keep it. It's such a shame :|

Any animal expert will tell you to leave it..... It will either survive or not...(sorry if that sounds harsh)

this happened to me a few years back, it was a wood pigeon that must have fallen out of the nest, I put it on A/Bs Animals & Nature section because I locked the poor thing in the shed for the night with food from the pet shop and water and it did not touch either. A/B told me of a bird sanctuary in Sussex so I rang them and they said bring the bird along so drove from Essex to hand bird over and left a donation, hubby thought I was mad but I could not sleep over it.
