According to this report his appearance in court was supposed to take place on 22 August, but I can find no further mention of it.

It's harmless banter, as far as I can see.
Of course discrimination and violence against homosexuals (or anyone else) is wrong, but this is just having a laugh at the stereotype of Brighton dwellers isn't it?
