I really want to start training for a career in Accountancy and have seen that the AAT course is probably the best one to go for. I also work full time, and just wondered if there is anyone out there who has done the course whilst working full time and how they have coped with it etc. Also, are the career prospects with this qualification good and would I need to do all three levels of the course in order to get a good job, or would I expect to say, do the Intermediate course for example, and then be trained through an employer after this? I have A-Levels, but not relating to anything to do with an Accountancy! Any advice or comments, would be great!

My husband got made redundant earlier this year and was planning on doing this - but to be honest after months of running around in circles he gave up. The problem seems to be that even with all the qualifications it is almost impossible to get a job - they go to graduates straight out of university. Hubby is mid forties and was wiling to train for years but nothing. Oh, correction, he could get an apprenticeship witth the local council on 10k a year, with no guarantee of a job at teh end of it. He's in Wine now. (working in it that is, not drowning his sorrows!!)

Good luck - I think you may need it!
