I am doing a business studies project where i get 10,000 to spend on an advertising campaign for a small business. I need to know how much radio advertising costs on local radio stations. If anyone knows of anything then i would really appreciate your help. Thanks.

Ring your local radio station. Ask to be put through to advertising sales and ask them how much per minute of airtime. Will vary depending on how many listeners they get. They could probably give you detailed info as to how much per minute and how many times it will be played and at what time of day. Bare in mind also that depending on who you're aiming the product at should have a baring on when it's played and what DJ is on at that particular time (for example if it's for old people then don't get it played in the dance music hour etc etc)

Cheers thanks for that. Will do it tomorrow and it's supposed to be a gardening centre so i don't think it will be playing in the dance hour. lol

It depends on the size of your local station. You need to ask for a spot rate, it's usually given for a 30 second ad, and it's usually given at 'rate card' (the ideal spot rate for that station). However, depending how long the campaign is, how many ads per day, etc, the spot rate can work out lower. However, most stations should recommend at least a 4-6 weeks minimum to see results on your campaign, and a minimum of 4 ads a day, preferably more, if you want to see a result.

If the sales exec is worth their salt, they should be able to recommend a campaign suitable to your needs, and aiming at the maximum potential audience for your particular market.

and don't forget, you would need to get ad(s) made too, so you should find out how much commercial production would be.
