whilst in the queue at the checkout.
Elderly couple, slightly hard of hearing, she asks him if he's got money on him.
He said no, you picked it up from the top of the washing machine.
She said she hadn't.
They were a tenner short of paying their bill.
Man in front of me paid the tenner.

I thought that was really nice.

I'm with you on that one Mrs C, you can tell the genuine ones
Mic is a West Ham supporter. A few years ago West Ham had a big game on. FA cup or something. He saw a kid in the street wearing a W / H shirt.( Remember we live in West Yorkshire). Anyway he offered this kid a flag and a cap. The kid came to the gate and waited for Mic to get them. 10 minutes later the kids Dad was round threatening Mic. Neighbours called the police. So it all blew over but made both of us ponder on what could have been very nasty.
It was a lovely but expensive gesture. Lots of elderley folk are better off than the rest of us. We call them WOOFs (Well Off Old Folk).
There was once a couple of kids in front of me in the Q and were 50p short of buying their lunch (sandwich, crisps, drink) so I gave it to them just to save the time it would have taken to alter it all, but on getting outside, did wonder if they tried this all the time. Kids are very canny these days
