You have my sympathy as I had these as well, but that is really no help to you. Just keep your bedroom cool, wear a cotton nightie so that soaks up the sweat and not your bedding, keep a fresh nightie by your bed so you can change it in the night without too much disruption to sleep. I did try HRT but it didn't really work for me. I have been know to get up in the night, take a shower then go back to bed! They will pass eventually.

Unfortunately its just another thing we girls have to endure.I have been having them since I was 37 and they do abate.I have tried all the alternative remedies but IMO they along with HRT didnt work.I'm just going cold turkey now - after all thats what most women did years ago.Sorry I cant be of more help but to be honest I sleep on top of the bed with the heating off most of the time - I crawl under a part of the duvet if I wake up but most of me is hanging out the side of the bed:)

We're with you!!!!

Poor lass I know how you feel.. I still get these from time to time even though I went throught the change early. Try and keep your room cool ..no heating ,window open.Wear cotton night things and have cotton sheets and blankets rather than a duvet. A fan is a useful thing to keep by the bed.Avoid spicy food , alcohol and hot drinks last thing at night.Keep cold water by the bed to drink. I used to keep a bowl of iced water and a flannel by the bed .
Try Black Cohosh tablets from the health shop or oil of Evening Primrose..both quite effective. They will lessen in time but unfortunately it's one of these things us women have to put up with.
HRT didn't work for me either. You are not alone !!
I must have been one of the lucky ones because HRT really worked for me in eliminating night sweats. But I can reiterate all the other advice about cotton nightware, cool bedrooms and plenty of venilation. Also a hot water bottle filled with chilled water helps, and if you're really desperate, one of those ice gel packs wrapped around with a thin cloth and enclosed in a polythene bag before putting it into the bed.
I am only 28 and have night sweats. I hope this doesn't mean I am going through an early menopause.

Hi just read all the replies I have been on hrt for about 12 years (age 50) cos had to have hysterectomy absolutely no probs if you go for hrt pleeeaese make sure its not premarin i was on it for several years till i found out how it was produced hrt can work

I have found loads of things that worked for me briefly

Black cohosh about a year

progestogen cream about 3 years

hrt by patch....about a year but when that stopped working I turned into Kevinette the teenager!!

The other thing about hrt for symptom control is that I understand that whenever you stop taking it, the symptoms return.

Now I am dealing with it "hot turkey" can't add to the good advice that you have been given already. They will pass, also they will get less intense.

As well as the animal welfare aspects of premarin, isn't the whole concept a bit yucky!

I get flushes and sweats during the day as well, they became way easier to manage once I had started to be open about the cause.

Keep your chin up, you are not alone!

I keep a fan by my bed and find this helps - not a wee battery one, but a big one! I turn it on full, throw the duvet off and chill!
Hiya, I'm past all that now thank God, but when I was getting this I used dried sage from the health food shop. It's a bit pricey but I found that after using the recommended amount for a bit I could take less and it worked. Eventually, the flushes stopped but I could have been lucky. The sage, by the way is in capsual form and is powdered.

I can't add anything to the good advice already given but to Billi I'd say please see your GP about the night sweats.

Black Kohosh is the only thing that works for me.
