Friday afternoon went shopping in my local supermarket and was minding
my own business when some impatient woman barged into me. I mumbled:- 'Please excuse me would suffice' and I was met with a torrent of abuse which left me shaking and I never finished my shopping as I was near to tears. I'm still seething and upset. What would you have done?
would you have retaliated or just walked away?

Just another form of bullying .So you either take it or react ..usually the one who reacts is the one who gets noticed so you did the right thing in leaving it .
Put stuff in her trolley when she isn't looking, particularly inappropriate stuff. I dread the day when kids on holiday think of this.
I've expereinced trolly rage when people are inconsiderate either in how they're pushing or where they're leaving their trolley; I find an exasperatd 'excuse me' and an impatient look gets my message across, I've never had to barge anyone. And people usually realise when they're in the wrong anyway so don't start rows.

Occasionally I just move trolleys out of my way when people are standing around chatting, if they look like they're going to get even remotely stroppy, I glare at them.

If I was in your situation, I probably would have a quick tally in my head as to whetherI'm doing any of the things that drive me to distraction, if I think I'm clear I'd have probably told her to go forth and multiply.
I would have said much worse than go forth and multiply.
I havent had trooley rage yet but regularly get

grub-udder - grub-udder rage you know the flat moving black mat that leads up to the cashier and goes grub-udder grub-udder.

The stick (my stick) does it for some people - along with the smart but used Tesco hessian bag - and they kinda know that the dog waiting outside patiently for its master is in fact mine. Oh and I shuffle as well.

I think you shrug and put up with it - others are v polite to disableds - and think of the nice cup of tea at home....
What is 'grub udder' Peter?
People should be polite to everyone, regardless.
Oh, I have been screamed at by a chavette - it really did teach me to cool off and not react at all - who thought I was listening to her silly conversation on the mobile.... ( really stupid and gormless it was as you would edpect from a fifteen y o ) when we were both on the concourse at Euston Station. Along with 500 other people. I was in fact trying to get to the train on platform 8 and she was in the direct line (and concentrating on what Sharon was saying).

Nightmare.
grub-udder is the noise - onomatopoiea - the flat thingey makes when it wafts your shopping - or else someone else's see above - to the waiting cashier.
