Please don't say I'm odd but...... of late i am getting a lot of twitches (I think you must know what I'm on about - like when the corner of your eye flickers). Most recently I am getting these twitches on my thigh muscle and upper arm. The most annoying one was on my left big toe, causing it to move right, away from the other toes. What is causing these and are they likely to get more frequent as I get older? I am 37. I have read previous posts on ths from last year but am interested if its still going on (possibly to do with the warm weather)?

You're 37??! Blimey, you looked half that in your photo.

err, sorry, I don't actually know the answer to your question. I get the occasional little tweak like that but it never lasts long, hour or so.

What photo? Where!!?
here - see what I mean? Twitching toes not shown, though.
no, hang on, I may have the wrong happy face - that was a happy_face, not a HappyFace. Sorry if I've distributed compliments in the wrong direction. How many happy faces are there?

Don't feel bad jno I though exactly the same when I saw this Q - then I realised the slight difference with the name!

Sorry HappyFace this isn't answering you is it?  I get lots of twitching & it drives me mad especially one I get near my shoulder blade.  Tiredness, over-worked muscles seem to aggravate it but I don't have any proper explanation I'm afraid.

anyway HF, I tried googling muscle twitches and it seems they could be caused by just about anything. If they're not just transient and are really annoying, this sounds like one for your GP.
I get one in my eyelid occasionally. Seems maybe if you're a wee bit nervous?
I get this twitchy thing as well. It's usually in the muscle below my left eye which drives me insane! I get very self concious 'cos I think everyone can see it even though they probably can't.
I asked about it when I had my contact lens checkup last week because I thought they might be causing it but the optician instantly said "Stress"! He'd obvoiusly heard it a hundred times before.
I'm usually too laid back for stress, but work has been quite heavy lately. I sometimes get a twitch in other stupid places as well, my right thumb for example.
I also talked about it with a friend who gets exactly the same type of thing under the same scenarios. So I think it's probably stress, although quite low level stress, aprehensiveness maybe?
It is more likely to happen when you are tired, if you havent had a good nights sleep the night before or if you feel run down
i get a twitch on my deltoid muscle...the one at the top of your arm by the socket. it does it and actually facisnates me...love to watch is twitch away! but its jus like your body providing tests and check ups on it self....the body is an amazing thing...trust me it knows what its doing
The odd twitch in your arm or round your eye is usually due to tiredness or stress. However if you are getting them frequently in different parts of the body I would suggest you go to see your doctor. There may be a medical cause which needs investigating

An old southern myth says that if your left eye twitches its good luck, if your right eye twitches it bad luck.
