Any idea what it might be? My OH said his ear felt wet this morning. He removed his hearing aid and there was blood on it and coming from the ear.

He does take Aspirin [for 15 years] and bruises more easily than he used to.

Any idea welcome. Thankyou

not got a clue. could be a loud noise has burst something in his ear or just put the hearing aid in wrong. hasn't happened to anyone I know before
Providing that he has had no long standing middle ear disease, which you haven't mentioned and is extremely unlikely, then the blood is coming from a small abrasion of the ear canal due to trauma from the ear insert, made worse by the taking of aspirin.

No big deal.

It will settle and no intervention is necessary.

Thanks for replying. He has worn the hearing aid for 20 years and assures me he hasn't hurt the ear. No loud noises either.

We were able to speak to an out of hours GP this afternoon who suggest he goes for a blood test tomorrow to test his clotting levels. He has also been bruising very badly with the slightest touch.

Mean time she gave him Antibiotics as it may be an infection? Time will tell.

Thanks again

dont know how old your oh is but as you get older yourskin gets thinner and with the blood-thinnig tablet(aspirin) you bruise much easier. I was put on warfarin a couple of years ago and the slightest touch bruises easily. I would suggest a blood test and he may be told to cut back on the aspirin. as for the bleeding, if he bruises easily he will bleed easily. I do, its probably nothing to worry about but better to get it checked.

Thankyou Alex.

He is 80 and yes his skin is like tissue these days.

The blood test will confirm either way. He was advised today to stop the Aspirin for the time being and see his own GP when they have the blood results.
let us know what happens cupotee, I am sure all will be ok.

someone like a Dr
has to look down his ear dont they ?

If his hearing is not affected - then I am sure it is the ear canal and not significant
