Hi Guy's.I've just come back from Venice and whilst there I bought a bag of this called GRAN ZUPPA DI RISO E FAVE.....I can't speak Italian so cannot understand the instuctions.I am keen to find out how to use it as it looks so delicious as was ALL the food we ate in Venice..Any ideas please....

Fava isn't the name of the rice, it's a type of bean. You have a rice and bean soup mix. I'd guess I'd just add water but if there's some more detailed instruction, you could try posting it here.
The literal translation is big soup of rice and broad beans. Fava is Italian for a broad bean. I presume it's a dried mix of fava beans and rice, with powdered stock or something? What does the mix look like?

Using a stock it makes a tasty soup as the rice acts as a 'thickener'


Add a little spice to the mix, some ham hocks, diced Italian sausage, herbs from the region etc. to make a more hearty meal, and serve with a warmed bread, or maybe polenta, cooked on the griddle in slices.


Italian food is very regional, so have think what you may have enjoyed on hloiday and aim for the same ingredients.

Thanks Guy's that's a great help.The mix simply looks like short grain rice,dried fava beans & split peas,simple as that.I've just dipped my finger in it and can't taste any kind of dried stock so I guess a chicken or veg based stock will do....


Prep as follows


risciacquare in acqua fredda 70g di gran zuppa di riso e favafior di spesa per persona,versala in una pentola con 0,75 litri di acqua ogni 100g di prodotto.Portare ad ebollizione,quinda coprire e cuocere a fuoco lento per circa 30 minuti.A cottura quasi ultimata aggiungere il sale.In una pentola a pressione sono sufficienti 13 minuti dall'inizio del fischio della pentola.....
