We have the opportunity of a trip to India (1 week, from the UK) but have 3 kids (ages 1 yr, 2 1/2 yrs & 6 yrs). Does anyone have advice about whether to go or not and if yes, and tips for while there.

It partly depends on where and when you're going, and the kind of accommodation you'll be staying in. There would probably be little fun - and there could be positive dangers - in inflicting Indian summer temperatures or monsoon rains on such young children, espcially if you were in budget accommodation in some remote town. But if, for example, you had the opportunity of spending a week in a reasonable hotel in Delhi, Agra or Goa during a cooler season, then this might be OK. But all that said, one week seems a rather short time to go such a long distance with three infants.
