Tambo - How are you listening to this; laptop through headphones, desktop through speakers, another combination?
Sounds like a 'physical' problem, as opposed to a 'software' problem.

I listen by speakers or earphones on Dell laptop. The sound is fine from YouTube links by music via WMP is hopeless, even with earphones

you can check your computer first, it no problem, you can change another media player. i think blu-ray player is great.
